Job Description
**Job Title:** Health Care Aide **Role Summary:** Provide person-centered care to residents/patients, supporting Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) under the guidance of nursing staff. Maintain competency through education and certifications. **Expectations:** 1-2 years’ preferred in healthcare with elderly/disabled clients. Grade 12 equivalent and Health Care Aide certification required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification mandatory. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist with ADLs per care plans and established standards (e.g., Accreditation Canada, Personal Care Home Standards). - Collaborate with healthcare teams to prioritize workloads and address care needs. - Adhere to legislative requirements and safety protocols (WHMIS, Workplace Violence Prevention, SCHIPP). - Maintain confidentiality per PHIA/FIPPA. - Work evenings, nights, weekends, and travel to regional facilities as required. **Required Skills:** - Verbal/written communication and teamwork. - Conflict management in agitated environments. - Proficiency in English (reading, writing, verbal). - Cultural sensitivity to diverse populations. - Proficiency in official languages for bilingual roles (if applicable). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Grade 12 equivalent, Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) - Acute Care. - Criminal Record Check (satisfactory) for vulnerable sectors; valid Class 5 driver’s license, insured vehicle, and liability insurance may apply (conditional on role).
