Job Description

**Job Title** Controller **Role Summary** Lead all finance and accounting functions for a small to mid‑market technology firm. Deliver timely, accurate financial statements, maintain internal controls, and provide financial insights to support strategic decision‑making. Oversee payroll, AP/AP, tax reporting, and ERP system integrity. **Expectations** - Produce periodic financial reports in compliance with GAAP. - Implement and maintain robust accounting policies and controls. - Represent the organization in external audits, tax filings, and defense‑contracting compliance. - Mentor and manage finance staff, fostering continuous process improvement. - Support future CFO transition by developing strategic financial leadership skills. **Key Responsibilities** - Plan, direct, and coordinate all finance and accounting operations. - Maintain documented accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems. - Prepare internal and external financial statements and reports. - Manage budgeting, forecasting, and earned‑value cost reporting. - Provide financial analysis and key performance metrics to senior management. - Evaluate and enhance accounting software and database effectiveness. - Oversee corporate tax planning and external CPA coordination. - Manage HR benefits administration via third‑party vendors. - Identify opportunities for process improvements and new system implementations. **Required Skills** - 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience in a small or mid‑market business. - Deep knowledge of GAAP and strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). - Ability to manage and develop a finance team. - Familiarity with ERP implementations and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Peachtree). - Eligibility for ITAR and defense contract work (U.S. person). - Experience in aerospace/defense/space industries and DCAA compliance is advantageous. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (equivalent experience accepted). - Master’s degree (MBA) a plus. - CPA or CMA designation not required.
