Job Description

Director of Engineering Role Summary: Senior technical leader managing engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, AI-enabled solutions. Partners with the Chief Product Officer (CPO) to align technical strategy with product roadmap while modernizing legacy systems and embracing AI-native development practices. Expectations: Proven player-coach experience leading remote engineering teams; strong architectural expertise across multiple tech stacks; hands-on proficiency in prototyping, rapid iteration, and problem-solving. Must thrive in agile environments emphasizing speed, quality, and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities: - Manage and mentor engineering teams to foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. - Provide technical direction for system modernization (e.g., legacy .NET systems) and AI integration. - Ensure reliable execution of product roadmaps with a focus on engineering velocity, quality, and stability. - Prototype AI-driven workflows, optimize development practices using AI tools (e.g., RAG, LLMs, automation), and resolve critical code issues. - Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Leadership to align technical delivery with business goals. - Maintain engineering processes (documentation, cloud infrastructure) for operational efficiency. Required Skills: - Leadership: Player-coach model with prior experience managing distributed teams. - Technical: Modern tech stack proficiency (Python, TypeScript, Go) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes). - AI: Practical integration of AI/ML tools into development workflows for scalability. - Architecture: Strategic design of scalable systems and iterative product delivery (MVP-first). - Collaboration: Cross-functional communication and partnership with non-technical stakeholders. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. - No mandatory certifications, though experience with cloud platforms or AI frameworks is advantageous.
