**Job Title:** Legislative and Communications Assistant
**Role Summary:** Supports the MPP in high‑stakes legislative work and strategic communications, managing media relations, content creation, and policy analysis across healthcare, housing, and Indigenous issues.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Communications**
* Develop and execute strategic communication plans.
* Create multimedia content (videos, graphics, blog posts, social media threads).
* Draft speeches, key messages, press releases, newsletters, op‑eds, and media advisories.
* Script, produce, and edit content; maintain website and social media channels.
* Support constituent outreach and community messaging.
- **Legislative**
* Build and sustain relationships with stakeholders linked to the MPP’s critic portfolios.
* Monitor media, conduct policy research (bills, amendments, FOI investigations).
* Draft and analyze legislation, prepare amendments, and offer recommendations.
* Coordinate and schedule meetings and events at Queen’s Park and the riding office.
* Assist with committee work, drafting and advocating legislation, and liaising with legal counsel and caucus.
* Document legislative materials (debate footage, Hansard transcripts).
**Required Skills:**
* Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
* Strong research, analytical, and policy‑analysis skills.
* Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
* Effective project management and organizational capability.
* Discretion, integrity, and sound judgment.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in communications, political science, public policy, journalism, marketing, or related field.
* Proof of professional experience in writing, storytelling, media production, or political communications.
* French proficiency is an asset but not required.
