Job Description
**Job title:** Billing Clerk **Role Summary:** Provide accurate and timely billing support for physicians in the Department of Medicine, including data entry, claim creation/submission, reconciliation, error resolution, and compliance with confidentiality and billing regulations. **Expectations:** - Maintain high accuracy and meet weekly/monthly billing deadlines. - Resolve discrepancies proactively and collaborate with physicians and staff. - Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with OHIP, WSIB, IFH, and UHIP policies. **Key Responsibilities:** - Enter billing data into the electronic billing program. - Create and submit claim files via MCEDT to the Ministry of Health each week. - Review account eligibility; identify and report missing information to the Billing Coordinator. - Generate and submit monthly error reports. - Reconcile billing remittances against claim submissions each month. - Assist in OHIP and third‑party billing training and technical support for new or existing staff. - Maintain adherence to regulations governing patient confidentiality. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in OHIP, WSIB, IFH, and UHIP billing processes. - Experience with electronic medical billing software. - Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. - Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. - Competence in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. - Independent problem‑solving and self‑direction. **Required Education & Certifications:** - College diploma (or equivalent). - 1–2 years of OHIP billing experience; physician office experience preferred.
