Job Description
**Job Title:** RN MedSurg **Role Summary** Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a diverse patient population across all stages of care. Provides holistic care addressing physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and economic needs while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. **Expectations** - Deliver patient‑centered care in line with state licensing standards and institutional policies. - Maintain professional competence through ongoing education, certification, and evidence‑based practice. - Foster a safe, collaborative work environment, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards, especially regarding delegation and documentation. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Conduct systematic assessment of patients’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle data. 2. Develop measurable short‑ and long‑term goals with patients and interdisciplinary teams. 3. Implement and modify care plans using clinical reasoning, evidence‑based protocols, and real‑time assessment data. 4. Coordinate care transitions, provide patient education, and prepare discharge plans. 5. Delegate appropriate nursing tasks in compliance with professional and legal standards. 6. Evaluate patient progress, revise care plans as needed, and document all phases in the patient record. 7. Participate in safety initiatives and support continuous quality improvement. 8. Engage in professional development activities and maintain certifications. **Required Skills** - Clinical assessment and critical thinking - Evidence‑based practice implementation - Effective communication with patients, families, and teams - Documentation proficiency in electronic health records - Delegation and supervision of nursing staff - Time management and prioritization in a fast‑paced environment **Required Education & Certifications** - Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program. - Current RN license in Nebraska or participation in the Nurse Licensure Compact. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (acceptable AHA credential). - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire. - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire. - Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification within 6 months of hire. - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire.
