Job Description

**Job title** Security & Compliance Engineer **Role Summary** Responsible for maintaining and strengthening the security posture of enterprise applications, ensuring compliance with NIST 800‑53, HIPAA, and MARS‑E2 standards. Manages vulnerability remediation, patch compliance, audit evidence, and configuration controls across on‑premise and cloud environments. **Expectations** * Deliver timely patching and vulnerability remediation. * Produce accurate audit evidence packages per federal and state schedules. * Collaborate with security governance, SOC, and cloud teams to sustain compliance and secure operations. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Implement OS and middleware patches as directed by security leadership. 2. Analyze vulnerability reports from Wiz, Tanium, and CloudCheckr; coordinate remediation activities. 3. Maintain System Security Plan (SSP) evidence and enforce configuration compliance. 4. Document audit trails for patching, configuration changes, and access‑control reviews. 5. Prepare monthly and quarterly audit evidence packages aligned with federal and state deadlines. 6. Participate in the Security & Compliance Board (SCB) and report posture metrics. 7. Support root‑cause analysis for security incidents, coordinating with SOC. 8. Validate hardening baselines against CIS Benchmarks for servers and cloud resources. 9. Work with Cloud Engineers to ensure encrypted backups, disaster‑recovery readiness, and IAM hygiene. 10. Track and close all security‑related JIRA tickets within SLA. **Required Skills** * 5‑8 years in IT security operations or compliance engineering. * Strong knowledge of AWS security controls, IAM, encryption, and cloud log correlation. * Hands‑on experience with Tanium, Wiz, and vulnerability management tools. * Proficiency in Linux, Windows Server, and containerized environments (ECS/EKS). * Familiarity with NIST 800‑53, HIPAA, and MARS‑E frameworks. * Ability to prepare audit evidence and maintain SSP documentation. **Required Education & Certifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field. * Security+, CISSP, or AWS Certified Security – Specialty (preferred). * Experience with ATO/FedRAMP or similar compliance audits. ---
