Job Description
Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator Role Summary: Support day‑to‑day HR operations in recruitment, onboarding, payroll backup, benefits, training, employee relations, and HR administration to enhance organizational effectiveness. Expectations: Provide timely, accurate HR support; maintain confidentiality; comply with Ontario employment legislation; manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities: - Manage full‑cycle recruitment: job postings, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and candidate communication. - Prepare recruitment documents, onboarding materials, and coordinate orientation sessions. - Liaise with staffing agencies; issue verification letters and employment inquiries. - Assist with payroll processing, year‑end activities, and employee benefits administration (RRSPs, insurance). - Coordinate training via LMS, ensuring completion of mandatory modules. - Respond to employee HR inquiries, advise on policies, and promote a respectful workplace culture. - Maintain HRIS and payroll records, update employee files, and support organizational chart updates. - Track performance check‑ins and appraisals; assist with HR budgeting, planning, and project research. - Organize employee service awards, business cards, and HR events; provide general administrative support. - Conduct background screenings for board, council, and driver abstracts. Required Skills: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel advanced functions). - Experience with payroll software (preferred). - Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, OHRC, AODA, PIPEDA). - Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer‑service skills. - Excellent time management, organization, and problem‑solving abilities. - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Required Education & Certifications: - Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or related field. - 1–2 years HR experience including payroll, recruitment, and general HR functions. - CHRP designation or candidacy is an asset. - Experience in non‑profit or regulatory sectors is considered an asset.
