**Job title:** Senior DevOps Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Lead end‑to‑end cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for a deep‑tech AI‑robotics company operating in defence and national security environments. Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient AWS and Kubernetes platforms while enforcing compliance, SRE best practices, and DevSecOps culture.
**Expectations:**
- Own multi‑account, multi‑region cloud architecture using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm).
- Build and audit highly available, secure Kubernetes clusters (EKS/OpenShift) and associated CI/CD pipelines.
- Champion security hardening, monitoring, and incident response.
- Deliver continuous cost optimisation and compliance audits.
- Mentor and enable cross‑functional teams in DevSecOps practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Architect and maintain multi‑region AWS environments (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ALB/ELB, CloudFront, ECR/ECS, Control Tower).
- Manage Kubernetes clusters, container registries, service meshes; create GitHub Actions / Argo CD pipelines for zero‑touch deployments.
- Lead security‑posture reviews; implement GuardDuty, CloudWatch, IAM best practices.
- Maintain SRE observability stack, pro‑active alerting, and SLAs.
- Automate repetitive tasks, mentor developers, and promote DevSecOps across teams.
- Steward policy and audit processes to meet industry certifications.
- Design AWS Backup, DR plans; run restore drills; maintain RPO/RTO dashboards.
- Execute monthly capacity & cost optimisation (Compute Optimizer, Savings Plans, Graviton).
- Manage drift detection (Terraform/Helm) and golden image pipelines (Inspector v2).
- Coordinate incident response, emergency changes, rollbacks, and post‑incident reviews.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience as a DevOps/SRE engineer with recent AWS cloud focus.
- Deep expertise in AWS core services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ALB/ELB, CloudFront, ECR/ECS, Elastic Beanstalk, Control Tower).
- Strong Kubernetes (EKS/OpenShift) administration, Helm packaging, service‑mesh knowledge.
- Proficient with IaC (Terraform, Terraform Cloud, CloudFormation).
- Containerisation skills (Docker, Docker Compose).
- Linux system administration.
- CI/CD engineering with GitHub Actions and Argo CD.
- Integration of SAST/DAST and security tooling.
- Scripting in Bash and Python or Go for automation.
- Experience delivering cloud cost optimisation and high‑security solutions for enterprise clients.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or equivalent) desirable.
