**Job Title:** Business Development Manager – Waste Services **Role Summary:** Drive revenue growth for a leading waste services provider by identifying and securing new business opportunities, expanding the client base, and fostering long‑term relationships across the Durham region. Operate in a field‑based, depot/home environment, balancing prospecting, client meetings, and contract negotiations to achieve sales targets and contribute to company expansion. **Expectations:** - Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets (base £30k + commission, OTE £41k+). - Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for the assigned territory. - Build a robust pipeline of qualified prospects and manage the full sales cycle. - Represent the company professionally in the field, adhering to health, safety, and compliance standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Prospect and generate leads through cold‑calling, networking, industry events, and referrals. - Conduct needs assessments, deliver tailored presentations, and prepare proposals/quotes. - Negotiate terms, close contracts, and ensure smooth handover to operations teams. - Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular sales forecasts and performance reports. - Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities in waste services. - Collaborate with marketing, operations, and service delivery to align customer expectations and service quality. **Required Skills:** - Proven B2B sales experience, preferably in waste management, environmental services, or related industrial sectors. - Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities. - Ability to work autonomously in a field‑based role and manage time effectively. - Proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office suite. - Analytical mindset for market research and pipeline management. - Excellent interpersonal skills for building client relationships and internal collaboration. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Valid UK driver’s licence (required for field travel). - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Waste Management, Health & Safety) are advantageous but not mandatory.
