About the Company

C12 is building useful quantum computers by crafting the highest quality qubits using ultra-pure materials and perfected processes to control every individual electron.

Launched in 2020 by twin brothers Matthieu and Pierre Desjardins, C12 is a spin-off of the Physics Laboratory at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. We are pioneering a new approach to quantum computing--using carbon nanotubes to create ultra-pure qubits, enabling better control, reduced noise, and a scalable hardware platform.

In June 2024, we raised EUR18 million in our second funding round, backed by Varsity, EIC Fund, Verve Ventures, and existing investors including 360 Capital, Bpifrance Digital Venture, and BNP Paribas Developpement. This follows a $10M seed round in 2021. With this support, we aim to demonstrate high-fidelity entanglement between distant spin qubits--a key step toward building large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum processors.

We have also inaugurated the Quantum Fab, our dedicated quantum production line in central Paris, and launched industrial collaborations across chemistry, optimization, and defense. Today, C12 operates from two offices on either side of the Pantheon, including a new space opened in 2025 to support our growing team.

C12 currently employs over 50 people across 20 nationalities, including 22 PhDs, all working towards one mission: to lead the next materials leap in quantum computing.

**Job Title** Security Officer – Defense Secret Protection **Role Summary** Ensure implementation of defense‑secret protection policy within the organization, safeguarding classified information, physical and digital assets, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Operates under the Operations Manager and coordinates closely with the Information Security Officer. **Expectations** - Uphold all defense‑secret regulations (IGI‑1300, Code de la Défense). - Maintain up‑to‑date security documentation and personnel habilitations. - Conduct audits, incident reporting, and continuous improvement of security controls. - Deliver training and awareness programs in English. - Provide regular reports to defense officials and senior management. **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Policy & Compliance** - Develop, update, and enforce the organization’s defense‑secret policy. - Ensure adherence to IGI‑1300 and applicable ministerial instructions. - Manage security documentation (plans, registers, procedures, role catalogues). 2. **Habilitation & Access Management** - Control software, physical, and contractor access to classified areas. - Identify roles requiring classified information access; manage personnel dossiers. - Liaise with habilitation authorities, conduct administrative investigations, and oversee revocation/renewal of authorizations. 3. **Information & Tele‑Surveillance Protection** - Secure physical and logical classified information and media. - Monitor and maintain access control, storage, and secure destruction systems. - Execute internal audits and security inspections; report incidents or compromises. 4. **Training & Awareness** - Design and deliver security and secret‑protection training (in English). - Conduct regular risk briefings on intrusion, data leakage, cyber threats, and espionage. 5. **Stakeholder Relations & Reporting** - Serve as primary liaison with the Defense Secret Officer (FSD) and information security officer on classified matters. - Prepare annual security activity reports for the FSD and organization leader. **Required Skills** - In‑depth knowledge of defense‑secret regulations (IGI‑1300, Code de la Défense). - Expertise in habilitation, classification, and security policy development. - Ability to conduct security audits and write comprehensive reports. - Strong cybersecurity and data protection fundamentals. - Discretion, rigor, and responsibility. - Excellent written and verbal communication in English. - Proficient stakeholder coordination (Defense, HR, technical services). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s to Master’s (Bac+3 to Bac+5) in Security, Defense, Engineering, Public Law, or related field. - Prior experience in information security, safety, or defense secret management preferred. - Security‑related certifications (e.g., CISM, CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor) advantageous.
