Job Description
Job Title: Director, Enterprise Data Architecture Role Summary: Lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-wide data architecture to enable scalable, secure, and cost‑optimized data storage, processing, and delivery across on‑prem and cloud environments. Serve as a strategic partner to IT, business, and operations leaders, driving cloud adoption, data governance, and value generation through advanced analytics, AI/ML, and reporting capabilities. Expectations: - Establish and evolve the enterprise data architecture vision and roadmap. - Align architecture decisions with business analytics, AI/ML, and reporting requirements. - Mentor and build a high‑performing data architecture and engineering team. - Champion data governance, stewardship, and quality across the organization. - Optimize data platform costs and operational performance. - Influence cross‑functional stakeholders on data asset value and architecture strategy. Key Responsibilities: 1. **Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture** - Define vision, roadmaps, and reference models for enterprise data architecture. - Ensure scalable, secure, and cost‑effective data storage, access, and processing on hybrid cloud/on‑prem platforms. - Partner with business leaders to align architecture with analytics, reporting, and AI/ML needs. 2. **Data Engineering & Pipelines** - Oversee design and delivery of enterprise‑grade batch and real‑time pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and consumption. - Establish metadata management, lineage tracking, and performance optimization best practices. - Evaluate and implement modern data technologies (streaming, orchestration, API integration). 3. **Governance & Compliance** - Drive adoption of enterprise‑wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. - Champion data stewardship and quality initiatives in partnership with business and governance leaders. 4. **Cost Optimization & Operations** - Implement cost‑effective data management strategies, including cloud cost governance and resource optimization. - Establish monitoring and optimization processes for data infrastructure performance and spend. - Partner with Finance and Procurement on data platform contracts and usage. 5. **Leadership & Collaboration** - Build, mentor, and lead a team of data architects and engineers. - Act as bridge between IT front office leadership and back‑end teams, ensuring alignment of business needs with technical delivery. - Influence cross‑functional stakeholders on the value of enterprise data assets and architecture. Required Skills: - 10+ years of experience in quantitative analysis, data modeling, reporting, relational database tools, data warehousing, and database architecture. - 3+ years with Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, ADF) or equivalent commercial ETL platforms. - Expertise in data warehousing concepts, relational data models, and multiple modeling techniques. - Deep knowledge of data ingestion design, transformation, and pipeline architecture. - Strong understanding of SDLC best practices with emphasis on DW/BI. - Demonstrated experience building and supporting mission‑critical BI/data analytics applications in large or high‑growth organizations. - Forward‑thinking, strategic mindset with a passion for emerging technologies and innovation. - Cloud‑first technology experience and ability to evaluate modern data solutions. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; ability to engage all organization levels. - Proven problem‑solving, decision‑making, and leadership skills. - Strong organization, task, and project management abilities. - Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field. - Professional certifications in data engineering, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, AWS Big Data Specialty) or related domains are preferred.
