**Job Title:** Automation & Controls Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and commission plant-wide control and automation solutions for industrial clients, focusing on both greenfield installations and brownfield modernizations. Produce technical documentation, system architectures, PLC/HMI programs, and network configurations while collaborating with senior engineers and clients to meet project and safety requirements.

- Strong technical acumen in PLC/HMI hardware, control network design, and software tools.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Create and review control system specifications, narratives, functional descriptions, and architecture drawings.
- Develop PLC programs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and configure HMIs (Rockwell Software, Wonderware, Ignition).
- Design and configure control networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Participate in hazard and risk analyses (IEC 61511) for plant installations; coordinate with safety consultants.
- Perform data extraction and analysis in Excel to define safety system requirements.
- Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of automation systems on site or remotely.
- Liaise with senior engineers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and delivery.
**Required Skills:**
- PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and HMI configuration (Rockwell, Wonderware, Ignition).
- Control network design and implementation (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Technical writing: control narratives, functional specs, system drawings.
- Hazard and risk assessment knowledge (IEC 61511).
- Strong Excel data‑analysis skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to build client relationships.
- Problem‑solving, self‑direction, and ability to work in a small, cross‑functional team.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Control Systems Technician, PLC vendor certifications) preferred but not mandatory.
