Job Description
**Job Title:** Test Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, execute, and analyze fire resistance tests for various products in a UKAS-accredited laboratory. Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal quality systems, produce detailed test reports, and support product development and compliance verification. **Expectations:** - Deliver accurate, reliable test results within defined timelines. - Maintain rigorous safety and quality protocols. - Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes. - Communicate findings clearly to cross‑functional teams. - Uphold laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance. **Key Responsibilities:** - Plan and execute fire testing procedures (e.g., ASTM, ISO 834, UL 94) using calibrated equipment. - Set up and calibrate test rigs, sensors, and data acquisition systems. - Monitor test conditions, record data, and troubleshoot equipment issues. - Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive technical reports. - Maintain test equipment, perform routine calibrations, and manage spare parts. - Ensure all testing activities comply with UKAS accreditation requirements and ISO quality standards. - Assist in product development projects, providing fire performance insights. - Participate in safety reviews, incident investigations, and risk assessments. - Update and manage test documentation, SOPs, and technical manuals. **Required Skills:** - Strong knowledge of fire testing methodologies and relevant standards (ASTM, ISO, UL). - Proficiency with instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis software. - Experience with test rig design, calibration, and maintenance. - Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into test plans. - Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration. - Problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting equipment and test anomalies. - Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, UKAS) and safety regulations. - Team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field. - Experience in a UKAS‑accredited fire testing laboratory is strongly preferred. - Certification in relevant fire testing standards or quality management (e.g., ISO 9001 lead auditor, UKAS test lab certification) is advantageous.
