Job Description
**Job Title** Junior Internal Auditor – Co‑op (Winter to Summer/Spring 2026 Term) **Role Summary** Provide support to the internal audit team by planning and executing financial and compliance audits. Apply accepted professional standards to assess internal controls, identify risks, and recommend enhancements. Work January–August 2026, with potential extension to December. **Expectations** - Complete audit tasks within agreed timelines. - Maintain professional objectivity and confidentiality. - Collaborate with audit and business stakeholders to adjust audit scope. - Demonstrate continuous learning in audit and accounting principles. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Develop audit plans, procedures, checklists, and questionnaires. 2. Modify plans in response to stakeholder feedback. 3. Utilize auditing tools (IDEA, advanced Excel). 4. Perform interviews, observe operations, and conduct analytical tests. 5. Review transactions, documents, records, and policies. 6. Assess adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls. 7. Document procedures and findings in working papers. 8. Draft recommendations for corrective or improvement actions. 9. Prepare written audit reports. 10. Follow up on remediation and verify corrective actions. 11. Assist external auditors as requested. 12. Support special audit projects and develop related presentations. **Required Skills** - Strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles. - Understanding of audit processes, risk, and control frameworks. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with IDEA or comparable audit databases. - Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities. - Clear verbal and written communication skills. - Organizational and time‑management skills; able to work independently and as part of a team. - Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates professionalism. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrollment in a university or college accounting or related program. - Co‑op experience in accounting/finance preferred. - Internal or external audit exposure is an asset. - No specific certifications required at this stage.
