Job Title: AV Technician
Role Summary
Responsible for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting low‑voltage audio‑visual systems, including video walls, projectors, control panels, and network cabling, while ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Expectations
- Read and interpret schematics and architectural drawings.
- Perform on‑site installations, cable pulls, soldering, crimping, and termination.
- Configure and load programs onto AV equipment (Crestron/Extron/AMX).
- Troubleshoot AV issues and provide effective solutions.
- Mentor junior installers.
- Maintain communication with Scheduler, Installation Manager, and Account Managers.
- Work overtime or overnight travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Review bill of materials, drawings, and project scope before site work.
- Install low‑voltage wiring, rack setups, projector/screens, speakers, and control systems.
- Conduct complex installations (anchoring, cable mounts, uni‑strut).
- Perform cable pulls, soldering, crimping, and termination of audio, video, and network cables.
- Provide quality checks, servicing, and troubleshooting during and after installation.
- Update project status and task lists to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and certifications.
Required Skills
- Proficiency reading electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
- Knowledge of low‑voltage systems and audio‑video signal flow.
- Cable termination (solder, crimp, splice) and networking basics.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑directed under tight deadlines.
- Ability to mentor and lead junior team members.
Required Education & Certifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of audiovisual integration experience.
- Post‑secondary education in Electronics, Broadcasting, or related field preferred.
- Crestron, Extron, or AMX programming/configuration experience preferred.
- Avixa CTS or CTS‑I certification.
- Industry training in Crestron, Biamp, Extron, QSC, Dante, or similar.
- Safety certifications: WHMIS, fall‑arrest, scissor lift (and other relevant trade safety).
- Bondable, clean driving record; ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts.
