**Job Title** Editorial Spring 2026 Internship (Paid, Remote) **Role Summary** Part‑time remote internship (≈10–20 hrs/week) from 12 Jan 2026 to 1 May 2026. Interns join Ballotpedia’s Editorial team to research U.S. elections, policy, legislation, and ballot measures; produce or support neutral encyclopedic articles; learn site coding and the organization’s style guide; and assist with data tracking and volunteer coordination. **Expectations** - Commit to 10–20 hrs weekly for the full internship period. - Work remotely with a reliable computer and internet connection. - Use Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets). - Produce unbiased, fact‑checked content and meet deadlines. - Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and mentorship activities. - Optionally secure academic credit; provide necessary documentation. **Key Responsibilities** - Conduct detailed research on elections, candidates, policies, legislation, and ballot measures. - Write, edit, and support creation of original, neutral encyclopedic articles. - Track news and legislative developments; monitor primary sources. - Process candidate surveys and volunteer applications. - Assist with metrics, reporting, and data collection for editorial projects. - Participate in brainstorming, planning, and editorial meetings with staff. - Learn and apply basic website coding (HTML/CSS) and adhere to Ballotpedia’s style guide and bias‑prevention protocols. **Required Skills** - Strong research, analytical, and written communication abilities. - Ability to write clear, non‑partisan content. - Proficiency with Google Workspace; basic familiarity with HTML/CSS or willingness to learn. - High attention to detail and accuracy. - Effective time‑management and ability to work independently and collaboratively. - Comfortable handling confidential information and source materials. **Required Education & Certifications** - Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., Journalism, Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, or related field). - No specific certifications required; academic credit eligibility optional.
