Intern - China Power Project (Spring 2026)
Job Description
**Job Title** Intern – China Power Project (Spring 2026) **Role Summary** Provide research, data analysis, content creation and event support for CSIS’s China Power Project. Engage in quantitative and qualitative study of China’s security and economic influence across the Indo‑Pacific region. **Expectations** * Full‑time, 40 hrs/week, 3‑6 month internship beginning early January 2026. * Hybrid: minimum 3 days onsite at CSIS headquarters. * Eligible to work in the United States and able to present in English (Chinese proficiency strongly preferred). * Maintain strict confidentiality of all research materials. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Conduct literature reviews and primary data collection on Chinese foreign policy, PLA strategy, U.S.–China relations, maritime security, Indo‑Pacific architecture, and technology policy. 2. Build, clean, and analyze datasets; produce tables, charts, and interactive visualizations. 3. Draft, edit, and proofread research reports, policy briefs, podcast scripts, and social‑media posts. 4. Monitor regional events, track developments, and produce briefing notes for senior staff. 5. Assist with logistical and administrative support for meetings, workshops, and public events; help plan and coordinate on‑site activities. 6. Perform miscellaneous project duties as assigned, ensuring deadlines are met. **Required Skills** * Strong quantitative analysis (Excel, Python, R, or equivalent). * Advanced proficiency in Chinese (written & spoken) preferred; English writing/reading required. * Excellent written and verbal communication; copy‑editing experience a plus. * Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines and work independently. * Proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, or similar). * Familiarity with policy research methodology and academic citation standards. **Required Education & Certifications** * Current graduate or recent graduate (Master’s level) in Political Science, International Affairs, Asian Studies, China Studies, Security Studies, or related discipline. * Minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent international degree. * Possession of a valid U.S. work authorization (e.g., OPT, CPT, H‑1B, etc.). * No specific certifications required; analytical and research experience preferred.

Job Description
Job Title: Intern – Project on Prosperity and Development & Sustainable Development and Resilience Initiative (Spring 2026) Role Summary: Full‑time, 35 hrs/week research and outreach intern for a 4‑6 month term (Jan 2026–May 2026). Supports the Project on Prosperity and Development (PPD) and Sustainable Development and Resilience Initiative (SDRI) by conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and drafting research products on international development, development finance, US foreign policy, trade, climate adaptation, and related topics. Provides social‑media coordination, event support, and occasionally author blog posts for the CSIS Development Dispatches. Works closely with the Program Manager and Research Associate.
