Job Description
**Job Title:** Substation Designer Intern **Role Summary:** Intern supports electrical substation and protection & controls design teams by creating, revising, and managing CAD drawings and documentation. Works under engineering supervision to deliver accurate, compliant drawings for substation and protection projects. **Expectations:** - Entry‑level position requiring no prior experience. - Must be a Junior or Senior electrical engineering student enrolled in an accredited 4‑year college or university. - Demonstrated willingness to learn new software and industry practices. **Key Responsibilities:** - Open, revise, plot, and archive CAD drawing files. - Create new drawings from templates, adding title blocks, borders, and drawing blocks. - Modify drawing blocks, borders, and title blocks as needed. - Compile, collate, assemble, and verify completeness of drawing and project document packages. - Utilize advanced scaling, model and paper space techniques, and style/formatting features. - Plot profiles, manage user profiles, and generate ISO and 3‑D view depictions in CAD. - Assist CAD technicians and operators in skill development. - Support project tasks, including BIM activities when applicable. - Contribute to Power Delivery program learning and application. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (preferred). - Basic BIM experience is advantageous. - Skilled with Microsoft Word and Excel. - Strong verbal and written communication. - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, engineering calculations, and regulatory documents. - Capable of writing reports and business correspondence. - Basic engineering mathematics (e.g., calculations, design fundamentals). - Willingness to learn industry‑specific software and Power Delivery concepts. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering, preferably electrical engineering. - Must be a current Junior or Senior student in a 4‑year accredited program. - No additional certifications required.
