What you will be doing

You will join work alongside colleagues from different teams on the implementation of various technical assistance and research projects, to support the implementation of the EU Green Deal, but also EU regional development, industrial, energy, and climate policies.

The role will provide research support in a number of key thematic areas linked to the European Green Deal priorities (i.e. Circular economy, sustainable finance, energy transition and climate change) and contribute to proposal writing and general business development in one or several of the above areas.

You will help strengthen Ecorys’ leading position as service provider for the European Commission, in particular for DG DG ENV, DG ENER and DG CLIMA working with colleagues throughout the Ecorys Group and with relevant partner organisations in pursuing new business opportunities and implementing projects.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to Ecorys’ communication and outreach activities, including attendance of and presentations at conferences and workshops.

The main responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

Undertaking research organisation and administrative tasks including set up, and arrange and undertake interviews, collect data and literature for review, data cleaning and communication with stakeholders
Undertaking qualitative research, including conducting in depth interviews face to face or by phone, and note-taking or moderating of focus groups
Undertaking quantitative research, such as designing questionnaires, building simpleweb surveys and interview guides, basic analytical skills to analyse survey results or relevant datasets
Conducting desk-based research, and documentary or literature reviews
Supporting project management of smaller projects under the guidance and supervision of more senior staff
Producing high quality analysis and sections for written reports
To actively contribute to proposals for prospective clients and new work under the guidance of more senior staff, for example drafting policy understanding sections, sourcing external experts, managing our expert CV database, or collating CVs and track records, collecting administrative documents relating to tenders such as letters of intent from experts

What we will need from you

A university degree in environmental/energy/climate science, Environmental/energy/climate economics, public policy, international relations, global energy transitions, human geography, or a related field
At least 1 year of work experience in a relevant field
An excellent level of written and spoken English developed through an extended period of study or work experience in an English-speaking environment
Willingness and enthusiasm to work on a wide range of topics related to green transition, in particular just transition aspects
Good knowledge and understanding of the functioning of EU institutions and key EU policies;
Excellent organizational and project management capabilities
Strong analytical skills
Ability to take initiatives, to manage multiple tasks and to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously
Good teamwork abilities, particularly in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary context
