Job Description
**Job Title:** Intern Engineering Designer – Bridge **Role Summary:** Support bridge engineering projects by assisting senior engineers with design, analysis, documentation, and field activities. Gain hands‑on experience in civil infrastructure while applying engineering fundamentals and software tools in a collaborative office environment. **Expectations:** - Learn and follow applicable codes and standards. - Produce accurate quantity take‑offs, cost estimates, and progress reports. - Communicate clearly in written and verbal formats with team members and clients. - Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized work files. - Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a proactive learning attitude. **Key Responsibilities:** - Review and become familiar with engineering plans, specifications, and details. - Perform quantity take‑offs and assist in cost estimating. - Support project monitoring, scheduling, and preparation of progress reports. - Conduct computer modeling using bridge analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, CSI Bridge). - Assist in producing engineering drawings, calculations, and design documentation under supervision. - Participate in site visits/inspections and coordinate with field personnel. - Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and support staff to deliver project deliverables. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. - Familiarity with civil/structural engineering software (SAP2000, CSI Bridge) – preferred. - Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation – preferred. - Strong organizational and time‑management abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program (3rd/4th year undergraduate or graduate). - Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferred. - No specific professional certifications required; eligibility to work in the internship location.
