Job Description
**Job Title:** System Admin, Linux Engineer **Role Summary:** Provide advanced administration, maintenance, and support for government‑client Windows and Linux infrastructures. Ensure system availability, performance, and security across on‑premises, virtual, and cloud (Azure, AWS GCC High) environments while meeting stringent compliance requirements. **Expectations:** - Maintain active security clearance (or obtain within 24 months). - Deliver Tier II/III support, documentation, and operational excellence. - Collaborate cross‑functionally with network, cyber‑security, and cloud teams. **Key Responsibilities:** - Administer, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers (production, staging, dev). - Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and identity services. - Provision, monitor, and optimize VMware ESXi/vSphere, Hyper‑V, and cloud resources. - Apply patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management per government security standards. - Implement security baselines, STIGs, IAVA, hardening, and vulnerability remediation. - Conduct audit preparation and continuous monitoring for NIST, FedRAMP, CMMC, RMF, or agency controls. - Monitor performance, capacity, logs, and perform capacity planning. - Maintain backup/recovery, storage, and disaster recovery procedures. - Create runbooks, SOPs, and maintain system documentation. - Participate in technical planning, project deployments, and client stakeholder engagement. **Required Skills:** - 3–5 years of Linux/Windows system administration experience (or equivalent). - Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP. - Proficiency with VMware ESXi/vSphere and Hyper‑V. - Experience with Azure and AWS (GCC High). - Security expertise: STIGs, hardening, vulnerability scanning, audit support. - Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, Python. - Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and documentation. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. - Current or obtainable security clearance. - Preferred certifications: RHCSA, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, VMware VCP, CompTIA Security+.
