**Job Title**
Founding Engineer – AI
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, implementation, and deployment of AI‑driven agentic workflows for the construction pre‑construction phase. Drive end‑to‑end solutions that parse complex plans, automate budgeting, and generate RFIs, enabling contractors to win multi‑million dollar bids efficiently.
**Expectations**
- Rapidly ship production systems (days, not weeks).
- Own the full AI stack: model orchestration, evaluation, monitoring, and reliability.
- Collaborate directly with estimators and contractors to translate manual spreadsheets into intelligent agents.
- Work in a high‑velocity, 0‑to‑1 environment; iterate on incomplete specifications and messy real‑world data.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Architect and build agentic workflows that use Procore APIs, Excel manipulation, and document generation.
- Develop RAG pipelines that ingest 1,500‑page plan sets, using PDF parsing, OCR, and computer vision to extract semantic content.
- Implement semantic search via vector databases, ensuring accurate retrieval from noisy documents.
- Design and maintain Python (FastAPI) services, Celery workers, and Dockerized workloads on GCP.
- Curate evaluation datasets from real construction documents, collaborate with SMEs to detect hallucinations, and establish continuous quality monitoring.
- Engage customers during bid week to map workflows, prototype agents, and iterate product features.
- Maintain and evolve the overall AI stack, including LLM APIs, langfuse, and agentic frameworks.
**Required Skills**
- 4+ years of applied AI/ML/engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Celery), Node.js/TypeScript, Docker, GCP, Supabase.
- Hands‑on experience with LLM APIs, agentic frameworks, RAG pipelines, vector databases, Langfuse.
- Strong background in PDF parsing, OCR, computer vision, and unstructured data pipelines.
- Familiarity with Excel manipulation, data extraction, and document generation.
- Ability to fine‑tune models on custom datasets and build evaluation frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and cross‑functional collaboration.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related field (equivalent practical experience accepted).
- Industry certifications (e.g., GCP Professional Cloud Developer, Certified Data Scientist) are a plus but not mandatory.
