About the Company

The Risk Management Authority (RMA) is a Non Departmental Public Body established in 2005 by the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003; and sponsored by the Scottish Government Community Justice Division. Our purpose is to make Scotland safer by setting the standard for risk practice to reduce reoffending and the harm that it causes: - we provide education and training in relation to the assessment and management of risk; - we have a statutory duty to give advice and make recommendations to Scottish Ministers; - we carry out, co-ordinate and publish research to promote effective practice; - we have a statutory responsibility to set standards and publish guidelines as to the assessment and management of risk.

Job Description
**Job Title**: Accredited Assessor **Role Summary** Provide expert risk assessment reports (RAR) for Scotland’s High Court under the Order for Lifelong Restriction. Assessors compile, review, and present high‑quality, evidence‑based reports and may testify in court. The role requires a deep forensic background, strong written communication, and adherence to RMA standards. **Expectations** - Produce two RARs annually, each taking 70–100 hours. - Deliver reports within court‑specified timelines. - Attend court as a professional witness when required. - Maintain RMA accreditation and comply with all professional guidelines. - Travel across Scotland for file reviews, interviews, and court appearances. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Review collateral files and gather relevant evidence. 2. Conduct structured interviews with the offender, professionals, and other stakeholders. 3. Analyze risk factors and formulate recommendations. 4. Draft clear, concise Risk Assessment Reports in line with RMA Standards. 5. Attend court sessions to present findings and answer questions. 6. Keep up‑to‑date with current forensic literature and maintain professional standards. **Required Skills** - Advanced written and oral communication. - Expert forensic risk assessment and evaluation. - Interviewing and stakeholder engagement. - Report writing and documentation. - Knowledge of sexual and violent offender assessment. - Time‑management and ability to meet tight deadlines. - Willingness to travel extensively. **Required Education & Certifications** - Registered Forensic Psychologist, Chartered Psychologist, Clinical Forensic Psychologist, or Psychiatrist with forensic specialism. - Valid professional registration and relevant forensic qualification. - RMA accreditation (obtained through the four‑stage process).
