Job Description
Job title: Buyer – Retail Role Summary Selects, purchases, and manages retail merchandise to meet store requirements while optimizing cost and availability. Coordinates with suppliers, monitors market trends, and ensures sufficient inventory levels for sale. Expectations • 3–5 years of retail or procurement experience. • High‑school diploma or equivalent; additional procurement or supply‑chain certification is a plus. • On‑site presence required; remote work not permitted. Key Responsibilities 1. Analyze market reports, trade periodicals, and sales‑promotion materials to forecast demand and identify product opportunities. 2. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, establish and maintain supplier relationships, and conduct supplier performance reviews. 3. Negotiate purchase prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements to secure favorable cost structures. 4. Determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase based on store requirements and inventory levels. 5. Maintain adequate stock levels through regular inventory checks and replenishment planning. 6. Attend trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product‑design events to source new products and stay current on industry trends. 7. Process purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve discrepancies or delivery issues. Required Skills - Market research and trend analysis - Supplier relationship management - Negotiation and contract management - Inventory and stock‑level management - Strong communication and presentation abilities - Basic financial acumen (cost analysis, budgeting) - Proficiency with procurement and inventory systems (ERP/Excel) Required Education & Certifications - Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent. - No mandatory certifications, but procurement or supply‑chain credentials (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are advantageous.
