Job Title: Network Engineer
Role Summary:
Provide second and third line support for LAN, WAN, and remote access infrastructure. Configure, deploy, and maintain network devices, troubleshoot issues, enhance monitoring, and ensure secure, reliable connectivity for business operations. Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams, service providers, and end‑users to resolve incidents, implement changes, and maintain documentation and compliance.
Expectations:
- Must hold an active SC Clearance.
- Onsite presence 2‑3 days per week.
- Respond promptly to security, infrastructure, or integrity incidents affecting business continuity.
- Follow and contribute to IT procedures, change management, and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, deploy, and maintain switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Perform low‑level physical and logical troubleshooting of network components.
- Use and improve existing monitoring tools to report on availability and utilisation.
- Implement new connectivity solutions for business and IT requirements.
- Support remote access links and resolve access‑related issues.
- Coordinate with service providers, resellers, and support partners.
- Create, update, and enforce IT procedures and policies.
- Advise 1st/2nd line engineers and system administrators on network capacity and stability.
- Raise change requests, arrange scheduled or emergency downtime, and obtain necessary authorisations.
- Log hardware software and technical support tickets with external agencies.
- Execute emergency or urgent network changes (e.g., switch configurations, device isolation).
- Block network access for compromised or risky devices.
Required Skills:
- In‑depth knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and reporting tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical abilities.
- Familiarity with change management processes and ITIL principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including documentation of procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle critical incidents.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Active SC Clearance.
- Certifications (preferred): CCNA/CCNP, CISA, CISSP, or equivalent networking/security credentials.
