ServiceNow Developer (Senior & Developer)
**Role Summary**
Design, develop, and maintain ServiceNow ITSM solutions for a federal communications agency. The Senior Developer mentors peers and shapes strategy, while the Developer focuses on implementing agreed‑upon development practices and delivering clean, efficient code.
**Expectations**
- Deliver functional ServiceNow modules that meet business‑process requirements.
- Produce maintainable code, automation, integrations, and unit tests.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine technical solutions.
- Working independently with minimal supervision on routine tasks.
- Senior role: provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, influence ServiceNow roadmap.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Create, configure, and maintain ServiceNow features using scripting (JavaScript, Glide APIs) and out‑of‑the‑box tools.
- Develop and execute automated tests (unit, integration, acceptance).
- Review and refactor existing code to improve quality and performance.
- Resolve defects, support user testing, and implement production fixes.
- Document design decisions, code changes, and testing procedures.
- Senior: coach teams, define coding standards, participate in architecture and strategy planning.
**Required Skills**
- ServiceNow platform knowledge (ITSM, CMDB, Flow Designer, Reporting).
- Strong JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and ServiceNow scripting (GlideRecord, GlideAjax).
- Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, data integrations, and ETL.
- Unit and automated testing frameworks (e.g., ServiceNow Automated Test Framework).
- Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and customer‑focused mindset.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code and adhere to development guidelines.
- Communication skills for coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years of related experience (or comparable education/experience mix).
- ServiceNow certifications (e.g., Certified Application Developer, ServiceNow Integration Specialist) preferred but not mandatory.
