Junior Database Developer

Job Description

Job title: Junior Database Developer Role Summary: Design, build, and maintain ETL processes and database systems for data migration, integration, and performance optimization within a financial services environment. Expectations: Deliver clean, accurate data migration solutions, support ongoing database operations, troubleshoot performance issues, and document processes in line with industry standards. Key Responsibilities - Gather requirements from stakeholders for data migration projects. - Develop, test, and maintain SSIS packages to extract, transform, and load data from diverse source systems. - Validate, clean, and map source data to target database schemas. - Load data into target systems, ensuring integrity and compliance with business rules. - Test migrated data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy. - Troubleshoot data load errors and performance bottlenecks. - Optimize ETL workflows for high volume and low latency. - Maintain database security, backup, and access permissions. - Write and maintain SQL and SOQL queries, stored procedures, and PowerShell scripts. - Support day‑to‑day database change requests and code debugging for internal applications. - Document database architecture, backup procedures, and security protocols. Required Skills - 3+ years SQL Server programming experience (2016 and newer). - Proficiency in SQL, SSIS, PowerShell, and Microsoft database administration. - Knowledge of SOQL and tools such as DBAmp or CData for Salesforce data extraction. - Ability to design and document data flow and mapping between source and target systems. - Experience troubleshooting database and ETL performance issues. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a detail‑oriented mindset. - Familiarity with insurance industry terminology is a plus. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
