Job Description
**Job Title:** Data Protection Assistant **Role Summary:** Provide day‑to‑day administrative and practical support to the Data Protection Team, ensuring the organisation meets UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 obligations. Work closely with Legal, IT Security, Risk & Compliance, HR and other stakeholders to maintain records, respond to data subject rights requests and support breach investigations. **Expectations:** - Deliver accurate, timely assistance to the Data Protection Manager and Executive. - Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all personal data handled. - Communicate clearly with internal teams, ensuring consistent data protection practices. - Demonstrate independence in routine tasks while seeking guidance on complex issues. **Key Responsibilities:** - Administer and update the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA) using Microsoft Lists. - Assist with data subject access requests (DSARs), rectification, erasure and related processes. - Support third‑party processor analysis and documentation. - Aid in breach identification, assessment and reporting. - Manage data protection registers, templates and internal tools. - Monitor the data protection inbox and internal reporting channels; respond or flag issues appropriately. - Liaise with stakeholders to gather and log information, ensuring accurate records. **Required Skills:** - Prior experience in a Data Protection or privacy support role. - Working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. - Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities. - Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Lists). - Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Team‑oriented mindset, collaborative and adaptable. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum of a high‑school diploma or equivalent. - Working knowledge of data protection law (no formal certification required). - Desirable: Current pursuit or interest in a data protection qualification (e.g., CIPP/E). - Experience in financial services is an advantage but not mandatory.
