**Job Title:** Staff Accountant
**Role Summary:**
Lead all general ledger accounting functions, ensuring accurate, timely month‑end and year‑end close, compliant financial reporting, and efficient transactional accounting. Partner with operating teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision‑making while continuously improving processes and systems for scalability.
**Expectations:**
- Complete on‑time monthly close with high accuracy.
- Uphold GAAP compliance and internal controls.
- Deliver clear, actionable financial reports to leadership.
- Identify and implement automation and process enhancements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Own full‑cycle month‑end and year‑end close: journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Manage general ledger activity: AP/AR, expense reporting, vendor payments, customer billing, and bank/credit card reconciliations.
- Develop and maintain a detailed close checklist; continuously improve close timing and quality.
- Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and compliance partners; prepare audit schedules and documentation.
- Prepare internal management reports, dashboards, and variance analyses.
- Collaborate with Operations, Research, GTM, and People teams to align accounting processes with operational needs.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling efforts.
- Identify opportunities for automation; implement and optimize tools such as QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and other financial software.
- Document processes, enhance internal controls, and contribute to the scaling of the finance organization.
**Required Skills:**
- 3–5 years progressive accounting experience, preferably in a venture‑backed early‑stage startup.
- Proven track record managing month‑end close and working with external auditors/tax advisors.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel/Google Sheets, and financial tools (Bill.com, Brex, Runway, Justworks).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication, discretion with confidential data, and ability to work autonomously.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Valid CPA certification.
