Job Description
**Job title** Research Assistant – Borderline Personality Disorder Study **Role Summary** Assist in the QUEST trial by recruiting patients with borderline personality disorder, administering validated psychometric assessments, collecting and managing quantitative data, and ensuring all procedures comply with research protocols and UK policy frameworks. **Expectations** - Work independently while maintaining rigorous data integrity. - Build rapport with participants, carers, clinic staff, and research team. - Adhere to consent processes, confidentiality, and participant safety protocols. - Meet local and national research performance targets. **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Recruitment & Engagement** – Identify and approach potential participants using varied communication methods. 2. **Assessment Administration** – Conduct Zanarini Rating Scale (ZAN‑BPD), Structured Clinical Interview for DSM‑V Personality Disorders (SCID‑5‑PD), and other study measures in clinic or home settings. 3. **Data Management** – Anonymise, input, and maintain an external quantitative database; update records promptly. 4. **Clinical Note Review** – Extract and code relevant data from electronic patient clinical notes for research use. 5. **Follow‑Up** – Schedule and conduct follow‑up appointments as per protocol. 6. **Participant Support** – Identify psychological/emotional needs, respond appropriately, and report concerns. 7. **Research Compliance** – Ensure all procedures follow approved protocol and UK health/social care research policy. 8. **Collaboration** – Coordinate with the study’s Chief Investigator, Principal Investigator, QUEST team, and clinical services to support study delivery. **Required Skills** - Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. - Strong organisational and time‑management skills. - Ability to work independently and in a team context. - Knowledge of mental health conditions, particularly borderline personality disorder. - Competence in administering structured clinical interviews and psychometric tools. - Proficient data entry, basic data cleaning, and database management. - Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and ethical research conduct. - Familiarity with electronic health record systems advantageous. **Required Education & Certifications** - Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, or related health science field (or equivalent relevant experience). - Relevant training in research ethics, data protection, and mental health assessment will be provided.
