**Job Title**: Server Administrator (Temporary)
**Role Summary**
Provide day‑to‑day infrastructure support for a multi‑site educational district, balancing 50 % server administration with 50 % end‑user support. Perform hardware/software installation, configuration, and maintenance on Microsoft and Apple platforms, manage security, backups, and disaster recovery, and collaborate on projects and process improvements within an enterprise IT environment.
**Expectations**
- Operate under minimal supervision while meeting tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate technical leadership and effective communication with users and team members.
- Prioritize tasks, handle interruptions, and adapt to changing priorities.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, switches, and network components across all sites.
- Manage Microsoft Windows Server (2012/2016), Office 365, Exchange, DAG, and Apple macOS/iOS infrastructure.
- Implement patch management, backups, and disaster‑recovery testing; monitor and resolve backup issues.
- Configure and secure network devices (routers, VLAN, ACL) and firewalls (Palo Alto).
- Automate software deployment, patching, reporting, and integration using PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Python, or similar.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for end‑users, including data recovery and security incident remediation.
- Research and recommend new technologies, automation, and process improvements.
- Maintain data‑center physical infrastructure (HVAC, power).
- Apply ITIL practices (ticketing, change, incident, problem management).
- Lead or support projects using Agile methodologies.
**Required Skills**
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, IIS, SCCM, Azure AD, Office 365, and related cloud services.
- Experienced with macOS server environments, JAMF, and Apple infrastructure.
- Strong scripting and automation in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Knowledge of network fundamentals (VLAN, routing, ACL) and firewall administration (Palo Alto, PKI).
- Familiarity with virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V).
- Ability to perform performance analysis, capacity planning, and system upgrade recommendations.
- Excellent problem‑solving, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team under pressure.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of enterprise IT experience.
- Relevant IT certifications (Microsoft Certified: Server Administration, Apple Certified IT Professional).
- ITIL Foundation certification preferred; Project Management certification is an advantage.
