Job Description
**Job Title** Automation Engineer **Role Summary** Design, program, test, and support PLC-based automation and electronically synchronized drives for food‑processing equipment (filling, closing, sterilization) on Siemens and Allen Bradley platforms. Serve as a technical resource in the conceptual, engineering, and commissioning phases, ensuring seamless integration of servo drives, HMIs, MES, and IoT components with mechanical systems. **Expectations** - Minimum 3–5 years of industrial automation experience, preferably in a global or multi‑plant environment. - Technical bachelor’s or master’s degree in electromechanics, electronics, automation, or equivalent by experience. - Excellent communication in Dutch and English; travelling up to 10 % to support field installations. **Key Responsibilities** - Develop and maintain PLC programs (Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7) and, where required, Allen Bradley code. - Program HMI interfaces, MES integrations, and IoT data flow for machine‑to‑cloud connectivity. - Conduct functional and system testing, validate performance, and prepare documentation for shipment. - Provide post‑installation support, troubleshoot servo drive synchronization, and coordinate with service engineers. - Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, production, purchase, and aftermarket teams to optimize machine design and customer outcomes. - Participate in feasibility studies, suggest technical improvements, and contribute to continuous process advancements. **Required Skills** - Advanced PLC programming proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal and Step 7; Rockwell Studio 5000 experience a plus. - Practical knowledge of servo motor control, drive configuration, and motion management. - Familiarity with higher‑level programming (VB.NET) and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle). - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; self‑directed and project‑oriented mindset. - Effective written and verbal communication in Dutch and English. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electromechanics, electronics, automation, or equivalent professional experience. - Relevant Siemens or Rockwell automation certifications preferred (e.g., Siemens Certified Programmer). ---
