Job Description
**Job title** Senior Legal Counsel – Litigation & Regulatory **Role Summary** Provide senior legal support as a commercial‑pragmatic generalist across an in‑house team. Act as the trusted legal voice for business functions, delivering clear, actionable advice on contracts, compliance, consumer protection, data protection, disputes and regulatory matters. **Expectations** - Deliver timely, practical guidance to commercial teams in a fast‑moving environment. - Influence decision‑making by translating legal changes into business‑relevant actions. - Maintain high confidence and integrity in handling consumer disputes, ADR and Ombudsman processes. - Foster a culture of legal awareness through training and clear communications. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Respond to legal inquiries and provide solutions‑focused advice on contracts, compliance, operational matters, and consumer protection law. 2. Draft, review, and optimise consumer‑facing and B2B contracts, terms & conditions, and policies. 3. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, summarise implications, and update stakeholders. 4. Support escalated customer complaints and disputes, including ADR and Ombudsman proceedings. 5. Deliver training sessions and written resources to enhance legal awareness across the organisation. 6. Prioritise and manage multiple legal requests concurrently, ensuring high‑quality outputs under tight deadlines. **Required Skills** - Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate legal concepts into plain English. - Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills. - Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. - Effective communication with non‑lawyers at all levels. - Knowledge of UK consumer protection and data protection legislation; experience with ADR/Ombudsman schemes is an advantage. **Required Education & Certifications** - Qualified Solicitor or equivalent (or fully qualified lawyer with recognised legal qualification). - Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience (in‑house preferred, regulatory background accepted). - Updated admissions to the Solicitor’s Roll and good standing.
