Job Description

Job Title: Backend Software Engineer – Level I Role Summary: Develop and maintain high‑quality backend solutions in Python/Django for complex clinical trial data and workflow challenges. Deliver study‑specific reports, reusable data scripts, and API integrations while providing expert technical support and product knowledge to internal teams. Expectations: - Proficient programming in Python or a comparable object‑oriented language. - Demonstrated experience delivering robust backend services and integrations. - Strong communication and troubleshooting skills, with a history of providing technical support. - Willingness to travel for training and collaborative meetings. Key Responsibilities: - Design, code, test, and deploy backend components using Python and Django. - Build and maintain reusable scripts for data manipulation and reporting. - Configure and customize study‑specific reports and metrics. - Integrate with third‑party services and external APIs, managing web service interactions. - Participate in root‑cause analysis and internal investigations to improve system reliability. - Acquire deep product expertise in randomization, drug supply management, forecasting, and natural language processing to advise configuration and support teams. - Act as a technical resource for other departments, offering guidance and troubleshooting assistance. Required Skills: - Python programming and Django framework proficiency. - Object‑oriented design and best‑practice coding. - Experience with API integration and data exchange formats (REST, JSON, XML). - Skill in developing reusable data modification scripts. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause analysis abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - (Preferred) Knowledge of clinical trial software domains: randomization, supply management, forecasting, NLP. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biotechnology, or a related technical field. - Or equivalent of 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
