Job Description

Job Title: Backend Software Engineer – Level I Role Summary: Develop, maintain, and optimize Python/Django–based backend solutions for clinical trial data workflows. Design secure, reusable data‑processing scripts, configure study‑specific reporting, and integrate external APIs. Support cross‑functional teams with technical expertise, investigate root causes, and provide high‑quality assistance. Expectations: - Adhere to company policies, SOPs, and best engineering practices. - Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders. - Willingness to travel for training, client visits, and team meetings. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement efficient, scalable backend components in Python/Django. - Build secure custom logic to resolve complex clinical trial data/workflow challenges. - Program and configure study‑specific reports and data modification scripts. - Integrate web services and external APIs with third‑party vendors. - Participate in internal investigations, root cause analysis, and post‑mortem reviews. - Acquire detailed product knowledge and advise on technical configurations. - Deliver expert technical support to other teams on backend architecture and troubleshooting. Required Skills: - Proficient in Python (object‑oriented) and Django. - Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating external services. - Strong knowledge of data‑modeling, transactional integrity, and performance tuning. - Excellent problem‑solving, debugging, and root‑cause analysis skills. - Effective written and verbal communication for cross‑functional collaboration. - Familiarity with clinical trial domains (randomization, supply management) is a plus. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biotechnology, or a related field, or equivalent 5 years’ experience. - Additional certifications in software engineering or clinical data management are desirable.
