Job Description
Job Title: Security Manager Role Summary Lead and manage the civilian security operations for an airport, developing and enforcing security policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and the Airport Security Plan. Expectations * Maintain optimal security posture for all gate areas and aviation worker access points. * Ensure budget adherence, effective resource allocation, and continuous improvement of security systems. * Provide timely, accurate reporting and clear communication to senior leadership and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities 1. Develop and implement airport security policies, procedures, and programs for AOA/SIDA gates, aviation worker screening, and patrols. 2. Recommend and manage visitor control, employee identification, and beyond-gate safeguards. 3. Oversee the civilian security officer program’s business plan, budgeting, forecasting, and cost‑effective staffing. 4. Supervise security supervisors and coordinate schedules and staffing for all security personnel. 5. Review incident reports, conduct investigations, and resolve field and telephone complaints. 6. Monitor compliance with Board, Department, and airport security policies, including the DFW Airport Security Plan (ASP). 7. Design and deliver training programs, ensuring enforcement of access protocols. 8. Assess facility conditions, surveillance, and screening equipment needs, making recommendations through the DPS chain of command. 9. Coordinate installation, maintenance, and operation of electronic security equipment. 10. Prepare analytical justifications for budget requests and manage annual financial stewardship. 11. Produce detailed reports and presentations for management needs. Required Skills * Leadership and team management of a civilian security workforce. * In‑depth knowledge of modern security principles, equipment, and airport security plans (ASP). * Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and delegate effectively. * Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Proficiency in developing training curricula and performance evaluations. Required Education & Certifications * High school diploma or equivalent (minimum). * 3 years supervisory experience in law enforcement or security, or 2 years as a Security Supervisor with an airport Department of Public Safety (equivalent education/experience acceptable). * Valid Class C driver’s license. * U.S. citizenship, no Class B misdemeanor convictions in the past 10 years. * Obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge within 30 days of hire; renewal required. * Ability to complete all initial and recurrent training per Title 14 CFR Part 139 and DFW Airport policy. ---
