Job title: Data Architect
Role Summary:
Lead the design, governance, and delivery of enterprise data architecture to support analytics and operational needs. Shape scalable data pipelines, lakes, and lakehouse solutions on AWS, ensuring data is structured, secure, and accessible.
Expectations:
- Drive end‑to‑end data architecture strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Champion data governance, quality, and lifecycle across the organisation.
- Mentor cross‑functional teams and foster a culture of data excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement enterprise‑wide data architecture, including data marts, lakes, and lakehouse on AWS.
2. Build, maintain, and mature a data catalogue to enhance governance and discoverability.
3. Define canonical data models, dimensional structures, and integration patterns for reporting and analytics.
4. Establish architectural standards, governance frameworks, and security controls.
5. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop secure, high‑performance data platforms.
6. Guide data validation, transformation, and cleansing processes to ensure quality.
7. Provide architectural leadership and mentorship to Data, Analytics, and IT staff.
8. Ensure compliance with data protection policies (e.g., GDPR) and regulatory requirements.
9. Evaluate, recommend, and evaluate new data tools, frameworks, and technologies.
10. Produce and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation (data flow diagrams, models).
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering.
- Expertise with AWS data services (S3, Glue, Redshift, RDS, Lake Formation).
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and integration patterns.
- Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, and scripting.
- Experience designing and implementing data lakes and lakehouse architectures.
- Understanding of data governance, quality, metadata management, and protection standards.
- Familiarity with IAM, encryption, and data security best practices.
- Knowledge of CI‑CD pipelines and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
- Excellent problem‑solving, systems thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to translate business goals into scalable data solutions.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- AWS certifications (Data Analytics Specialty or Solutions Architect) desirable.
