R&D Business Area Manager
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, development, and market launch of mechanical surface characterization instruments. Drive product innovation, manage multidisciplinary R&D teams, coordinate with cross‑functional departments, and ensure projects meet technical, financial, and quality targets.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Define and implement R&D strategy in partnership with senior management.
- Oversee end‑to‑end instrument development projects (concept, design, prototyping, validation, launch).
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Integrate emerging technologies to sustain product advantage.
- Coordinate with production, quality, marketing, customer support, and engineering to ensure feasibility and alignment.
- Lead process improvement initiatives for efficiency and product quality.
- Supervise departmental budget and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Act as technical advisor in collaboration with a System Architect, facilitating knowledge transfer.
**Required Skills**
- 10+ years in R&D of measurement instruments or complex industrial systems.
- Proven leadership of multidisciplinary hardware, software, mechanical, electronic, and firmware teams.
- Strong engineering expertise in mechanical, electronic, and embedded software design for measuring instruments.
- Advanced project management skills: concurrent project handling, priority setting, stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent communication, team motivation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Strategic thinking with market trend foresight.
- Fluency in English; clear communication in French required; German a plus.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems preferred.
