Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Role Summary: Design, develop, and operate cloud‑native infrastructure and platform services that power scalable bioinformatics pipelines and self‑service analytics for genomics research. Own IaC, CI/CD, and monitoring stacks to deliver reliable, reproducible multi‑environment deployments across AWS.
Expectations: Full‑time; BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; 4+ years of industry experience in a mixed Software Engineering/DevOps or Infrastructure role, preferably in bioinformatics or computational biology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and extend self‑service bioinformatics platforms and infrastructure.
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and maintainability; proactively identify and remediate weak points.
- Own Terraform codebase and CI/CD pipelines for reproducible deployments (production, staging, test, dev) across multiple AWS accounts.
- Develop containerized build environments (Docker) and automation services (AWS Lambda, event‑driven APIs).
- Contribute to efficient NGS data ingestion, preprocessing, and management strategies.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to accelerate scientific discovery through robust infrastructure and services.
Required Skills:
- 4+ years in Software Engineering/DevOps or comparable infrastructure role; bioinformatics experience a plus.
- Proficiency with AWS services: EC2, S3, IAM, ECS, Lambda, Batch, CloudWatch, SQS/SNS, etc.
- IaC expertise with Terraform (preferred); modular, multi‑environment design.
- Strong programming in Python; comfortable with Bash and Linux.
- Containerization: Docker, Apptainer.
- CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab.
- Cloud orchestration and container orchestration knowledge.
- Observability/monitoring: CloudWatch, Datadog, OpenTelemetry.
- Data warehousing familiarity (Redshift, Snowflake) desirable.
- Agile/Scrum methodology, excellent communication, prioritization, and self‑motivation.
Required Education & Certifications:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Terraform Associate) are advantageous but not mandatory.
