Job Description
**Job title:** Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) **Role Summary:** Provide technical leadership and project management for steel and pre‑engineered building design. Perform structural analysis, preparation of design calculations, connection details, and engineering drawings. Review and stamp shop drawings and fabrication details, ensuring compliance with CSA, AISC, and NBC codes. Support value‑engineering, client coordination, and construction execution while maintaining quality and cost efficiency. **Expectations:** - Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing (BC mandatory, additional provinces advantageous). - 8–10 years progressive structural engineering experience, including steel and pre‑engineered building systems. - Proven track record of leading design projects from concept through erection. - Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills. **Key Responsibilities:** - Perform structural analysis and design for steel and pre‑engineered buildings. - Prepare, validate, and stamp design calculations, connections, and engineering drawings. - Review shop drawings, fabrication details, and erection drawings; ensure constructability and client specification compliance. - Provide technical guidance throughout project phases: design, detailing, fabrication, erection, and post‑tender support. - Coordinate with project management, construction teams, clients, architects, and consultants to resolve design issues. - Support pre‑contract activities: proposals, estimates, schedules, and schematic designs. - Participate in value‑engineering to optimize material use and cost. - Uphold company engineering standards, conduct peer reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. - Stay updated on evolving codes, design methods, and industry best practices. **Required Skills:** - Structural engineering expertise in steel and pre‑engineered building systems. - Proficiency with structural analysis software (RISA, ETABS, SAP2000) and BIM/ CAD tools (Revit). - Ability to review and approve shop drawings, fabrication details, and erection documents. - Strong knowledge of CSA, AISC, and NBC standards. - Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and clients. - Project management skills: scheduling, cost control, and delivering on time and within budget. - Problem‑solving and strategic thinking with a hands‑on mindset. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or higher degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. - Registered P.Eng. (required); registration in additional Canadian provinces is an asset. - Minimum 8–10 years of progressive structural engineering experience.
