Job Description
Job Title: Machine Learning Researcher Coauthor Role Summary: Engineering‑heavy contributor who will develop and maintain the core ML infrastructure for a high‑impact research paper on neural‑network geometry, while co‑authoring and shaping the manuscript. Expectations: 10 hrs/wk; fully remote; no salary; full co‑authorship and leadership opportunity within the project. Key Responsibilities: • Own and evolve the ML codebase, including model evaluation pipelines for LLMs and vision models. • Build benchmarking tools (perplexity, structural metrics, custom evaluation loops). • Design and implement data/matrix loaders capable of handling large, layer‑by‑layer models. • Orchestrate cloud‑based compute using Modal, Lambda, serverless runners, etc. • Collaborate directly with senior researchers on experiment design, result interpretation, and manuscript drafting. • Participate in paper strategy, structuring, and discussions on extensions/generalizations. • Optionally implement experimental algorithms from the math team and conduct independent research. Required Skills: • Strong PyTorch engineering and experience building production‑grade ML tooling, repositories, and loaders. • Proficiency with ML evaluation scripts and reproducible experiment pipelines. • Ability to own infrastructure with minimal oversight. • Familiarity with cloud compute and serverless platforms. • Interest in neural‑network structure, matrix geometry, or model internals. • Excellent written communication for manuscript contributions. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or related field. (Ph.D./MSc preferred but not mandatory). • No specific certifications required.
