Job Description
Job Title: Summer Internship – Data Engineer Role Summary: An entry‑level internship focused on building and supporting a modern data platform. Interns collaborate with business analysts, leadership, and senior engineers to translate business needs into data products, perform data governance, and enhance analytical capabilities using SQL, Python, and visualization tools. Expectations: - Gain hands‑on experience in data engineering, data governance, and analytics. - Develop problem‑solving and storytelling skills to translate data insights into business decisions. - Demonstrate a customer‑first mindset, initiative, and willingness to challenge existing processes. Key Responsibilities: - Gather requirements from business partners to define data product scope. - Contribute to the development and optimization of a modern data platform and existing datasets. - Build analytical solutions and data visualizations using SQL, Python, Scala, Spark, and BI tools. - Apply data governance practices and curate technical metadata for business use. - Support change management initiatives to empower the data community. Required Skills: - Proficient in SQL; experience with Python, Scala, and Spark considered. - Knowledge of relational and non‑relational databases. - Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent visualization tools. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). - Customer‑first attitude, high energy, and self‑starter mindset. Required Education & Certifications: - Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related STEM field. - GPA ≥ 3.0 preferred. - Graduate studies in engineering or analytics considered a plus.
