Job Title: Interim Procurement Lead – Medtech
Role Summary
Lead strategic procurement for a MedTech scale‑up during the final stage of product development. Partner with R&D, Design, QA, Supply Chain and Operations to shape sourcing strategy, secure scalable suppliers, and support New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Product Development (NPD) initiatives.
Expectations
* Provide end‑to‑end sourcing oversight for Lab Consumables, Components, Raw Materials, Electro‑Mechanical parts, Chemicals, and Software.
* Influence product design and sourcing decisions to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
* Build and maintain a scalable supply chain that supports rapid market launch.
* Deliver on cost savings, risk mitigation, and on‑time delivery targets.
* Manage one direct report and collaborate with senior stakeholders across multiple functions.
* Report progress on sourcing KPIs and NPI milestones to executive leadership.
* Successfully complete a 6‑month contract with potential extension or permanent placement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with NPI and NPD timelines.
2. Conduct supplier qualification, risk assessment, and performance monitoring.
3. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to secure best value and contractual compliance.
4. Coordinate cross‑functional teams (R&D, QA, Engineering, Operations) to resolve design‑to‑source issues.
5. Manage the request-for-quotation (RFQ) and vendor evaluation processes for specified categories.
6. Identify and implement cost‑reduction and process‑improvement initiatives.
7. Lead an annual tender cycle and maintain the supplier database.
8. Support supply chain scalability planning and forecast supplier capacity.
9. Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team member.
10. Deliver regular status updates and reporting on procurement metrics.
Required Skills
* Proven experience in MedTech, Biotech, or IVD manufacturing procurement.
* Expertise in NPI/NPD processes, new product design control, and supplier enablement.
* Strong strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and vendor management capabilities.
* Knowledge of categories: laboratory consumables, electro‑mechanical, chemicals, software, and raw materials.
* Facility with purchasing standards (CIPS, ASCM), regulatory compliance, and quality system integration.
* Leadership experience managing a small team and influencing cross‑functional stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑visibility environment.
Required Education & Certifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
* Professional certification preferred: CIPS, ASCM (CSCP/CLTD), or PMI‑PMP.
