Our platform delivers accurate indoor positioning and actionable product location insights — helping retailers streamline operations, optimize workflows, and reduce inefficiencies. By fusing wireless signals and mobile computer vision, we provide a uniquely scalable and infrastructure-free solution already deployed by international fashion brands. Founded by an MIT engineering professor and alum behind the award-winning, patented core technologies, Cartesian spun out in 2023. Since then, we’ve bootstrapped to a live product, were awarded a competitive SBIR grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation, deployed in multiple countries, and begun generating customer revenue. Job Description

**Job Title** Software Engineer **Role Summary** Design, develop, and scale the company‑wide backend stack, delivering robust APIs, data pipelines, and ML workloads. Own features from concept to production while leading infrastructure and DevOps practices. **Expectations** - Full ownership of end‑to‑end feature development. - Proactive problem‑solving across infra, data, ML, and API layers. - Clear, concise communication of design decisions and trade‑offs. - Continuous learning and mentorship within the team. **Key Responsibilities** - Architect and implement high‑performance, cost‑effective backend services using Python and FastAPI. - Build and optimize APIs, distributed ML systems, and data pipelines handling terabyte‑scale datasets. - Design intuitive dashboards for internal/external stakeholders. - Manage cloud infrastructure with IaC (Azure, Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes). - Enhance CI/CD pipelines to accelerate reliable releases. - Contribute to engineering best practices, planning, roadmap, and culture. **Required Skills** - 3+ years of professional experience in backend development (Python, FastAPI). - Expertise in building scalable web services and intuitive APIs. - Experience with distributed systems for compute‑heavy ML workloads (PyTorch, Ray). - Strong knowledge of relational databases (Postgres) and query optimization. - Proficiency in data engineering: pipeline design, Parquet, Blob Storage. - Cloud infrastructure management using Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm. - CI/CD automation and performance monitoring. - Excellent problem‑solving, system design, and communication skills. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Relevant certifications (Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform) are a plus but not mandatory.
