Job Description
Job Title: Staff Android Engineer Role Summary: Guide the architectural evolution and delivery of high‑impact Android features for a global music streaming platform. Lead cross‑functional initiatives, leverage AI‑assisted tooling, mentor peers, and shape mobile strategy across Android, iOS, and backend teams. Expectations: • Ownership of large‑scale technical initiatives that influence multiple product areas. • Advocate and implement AI‑powered development practices to accelerate delivery and quality. • Serve as a technical ambassador within the organization and with external partners. • Mentor and elevate engineering talent through code reviews, pair programming, and constructive feedback. Key Responsibilities: - Define, propose, and lead high‑impact Android architectural projects affecting multiple stakeholder teams. - Drive scalability, performance, and long‑term maintainability of the Android code base. - Collaborate with iOS and backend engineers to design integrated, user‑centric solutions for music fans. - Integrate and advocate for AI‑assisted tools (e.g., Goose, Cursor, Claude Code) to speed development cycles. - Participate in and influence design and product roadmaps; contribute to cross‑platform strategy. - Mentor junior developers, conduct technical reviews, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. - Represent the Android team in senior technical discussions across the broader organization. Required Skills: - 12+ years of professional experience in Android development. - Expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack libraries, coroutines, and modern Android architecture patterns. - Proven track record delivering large‑scale, cross‑team initiatives with measurable impact. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging, automated tests (unit, snapshot, integration). - Comfortable using AI‑powered development tools and incorporating them into workflows. - Strong communication, relationship‑building, and influence skills across disciplines. - Mentoring experience and demonstrated growth of engineering peers. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - No additional certifications required; relevant technical certifications (e.g., Android Certified Developer) are a plus.
