Job title: Lead Backend Engineer
Role Summary: Spearhead the design, development, and delivery of a scalable, secure fintech backend ecosystem. Lead architectural decisions, mentor a distributed engineering team, and enforce engineering excellence while maintaining PCI/ISO compliance.
Expactations:
- Lead and own complex backend initiatives from conception to production.
- Coach and manage junior/backend staff, driving quality code reviews and pair programming.
- Champion best practices in performance, security, observability, and CI/CD.
- Collaborate closely with product, DevOps, QA, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver business‑critical features.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and build RESTful APIs and microservices in PHP (Laravel/Phalcon).
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of high‑throughput, low‑latency services.
- Enhance system reliability, scalability, and observability across distributed services.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Define and enforce coding standards, internal security policies, and compliance with PCI‑DSS and ISO frameworks.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure automation with DevOps.
- Participate in long‑term technical strategy, road‑mapping, and architectural reviews.
Required Skills:
- Extensive backend engineering experience, PHP specialized (Laravel or similar).
- Proficient with modern tooling: Docker, Git/GitHub workflows, CI/CD, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Strong grasp of distributed systems, microservices, caching, message queues, and high‑throughput API design.
- Database expertise: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or other document stores.
- Solid testing methodology, automated test suite design, and performance profiling.
- Ability to debug complex, cross‑service issues and prioritize delivery in a fast‑moving environment.
- Knowledge of secure coding, PCI‑DSS, ISO security standards (beneficial).
- Experience with Phalcon, Go/Rust, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS, scalable event‑driven architectures (desirable).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- PCI‑DSS and ISO 27001 security certifications or demonstrable compliance knowledge.
