**Job Title**
General Manager – Student Transportation
**Role Summary**
Lead the launch and growth of a new student transportation division, setting strategic direction, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering safe, reliable service to schools and families.
**Expectations**
- Build and lead a high‑performing leadership and operational team.
- Achieve financial and service‑delivery KPIs, maintain budget discipline.
- Serve as senior partner for schools, municipal entities, and consortiums.
- Drive start‑up governance, culture, and continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and execute strategic plans, setting performance goals and service standards.
- Oversee operations, dispatch, routing, safety, training and customer support teams.
- Manage escalations, risk mitigation, and major operational issues.
- Build succession plans and coach supervisors and frontline managers.
- Act as primary liaison with school boards, government partners, and community stakeholders.
- Own divisional budget, forecast financials, and report on profitability and cost control.
- Lead capital planning for fleet, facilities and major procurements.
- Launch and scale the Kingston operation, ensuring staffing, fleet, facility and compliance readiness.
- Implement new technologies, processes and change management initiatives.
- Develop and report on KPIs for reliability, safety, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
**Required Skills**
- Strategic and operational leadership in transportation or large service organization.
- People management, talent development and succession planning.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and diplomatic communication.
- Financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, margin improvement, cost control.
- Risk management, safety compliance, and crisis response.
- Proficiency in data analysis, KPI development and continuous improvement.
- Ability to thrive in a start‑up, fast‑changing environment.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Transportation or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership in transportation, logistics or related service industry.
- Certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma, or transportation safety credentials are a plus.
