Job Description
Job title: Apprentice Technician Role Summary: Full‑time automotive technician apprentice reporting to the Aftersales Manager. The role involves learning to diagnose, test, service, and repair vehicles while gaining industry qualifications through a structured 4‑year apprenticeship program. Expactations: - No prior experience required. - Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. - Completion of college coursework/examinations and portfolio to achieve appropriate automotive qualifications within the apprenticeship period. - Adherence to safety, warranty, and record‑keeping standards throughout the apprenticeship. Key Responsibilities: - Diagnose, test, service, and repair motor vehicles, continually improving technical skills. - Interpret and apply technical service data, reading vehicle literature and updates. - Ensure vehicles meet safety and manufacturer standards before customer return; document any non‑conformance. - Complete and maintain accurate work request forms, damage reports, mileage, chassis numbers and clock‑in/out data. - Account for all parts and sundries used during service, linking invoices or picking slips to work request cards. - Maintain workshop cleanliness and hygiene, complying with health and safety procedures. - Attend designated college courses, meet exam requirements, and submit required portfolios. - Protect customer vehicles against accidental damage or loss, using appropriate covers. - Safeguard plant and tools, report defects or misuse immediately. - Investigate, report, and advise on vehicle and component serviceability, producing electronic health checks and supporting videos. - Report any health and safety non‑compliance by self or colleagues. Required Skills: - Strong willingness to learn and develop automotive technical expertise. - Basic mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability. - Attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping. - Good communication and teamwork skills. - Safety‑conscious mindset and adherence to company procedures. Required Education & Certifications: - Enrollment in a recognized automotive apprenticeship program (4 years). - Completion of NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Repair/Service. - Successful completion of all college coursework, examinations, and portfolio requirements.
