**Job Title**
Legal Consultant – Funds & Asset Management (2–8 PQE)
**Role Summary**
Provide specialist legal advisory services to funds and asset‑management clients on a consulting basis. Deliver support across fund formation, distribution, regulatory compliance, and ongoing operational matters, typically in assignments of 6 months or longer. Work with corporate, alternative, and regulated platforms, leveraging deep knowledge of UK, European, and offshore jurisdictions.
**Expectations**
- 2–7 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in a top‑tier law firm or equivalent in‑house role.
- Practising certificate in the UK (or equivalent) with right to work.
- Consultant mindset: professional, flexible, adaptable, and results‑oriented.
- Ability to manage client expectations and deliver high‑quality work independently.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Draft, review, and negotiate fund formation documents (UCITS, AIFMD, FCA‑regulated structures).
- Advise on distribution strategies, investor relations, and marketing regulatory compliance.
- Assist with feeder‑fund setups, SPV creation, and fund restructuring (UK, Cayman, Luxembourg).
- Support portfolio‑management and ESG initiatives, including return-on-investment assessment and risk mitigation.
- Handle BAU tasks: redemptions, transfers, investor requests, investment memorandums, and investor documentation.
- Provide regulatory and strategic advice for alternatives and other asset‑management portfolios.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring timely responses and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with partner and support teams on complex deals and knowledge sharing.
**Required Skills**
- In‑depth knowledge of funds & asset‑management law (UK, EU, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg).
- Regulatory expertise: UCITS, AIFMD, FCA, ESG frameworks.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and client‑management abilities.
- Project‑management skills: organisation, time‑management, and prioritisation.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with broader legal teams.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Qualified solicitor (UK) or equivalent legal qualification.
- Minimum 2 years PQE in funds or asset‑management boutique or top‑tier law firm.
- Practitioner’s certificate allowing practice in the UK.
- Preferably experience as an in‑house counsel for a financial institution, alternative investment vehicle, or asset manager.
