Job title: Manager, Software Engineering
Role Summary: Lead and scale a Platform Engineering team focusing on claims and integration domains, define and execute the technical roadmap, and drive architectural excellence while ensuring operational efficiency and high‑performance team culture.
Expectations: • Build and mentor a cross‑functional team of up to senior engineers to deliver reliable, scalable software solutions. • Align engineering priorities with company OKRs, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term scalability. • Maintain high quality standards through best practices in design, development, testing, and operations. • Communicate strategically with senior leadership, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
Key responsibilities: • Set vision, strategy, and roadmap for the engineering team. • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and develop career growth plans. • Partner with product, design, and other engineering leaders to translate business requirements into actionable projects. • Collaborate with Principal Engineers and architects to design scalable, maintainable architectures. • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring system reliability and resilience. • Establish and enforce best practices for coding, testing, CI/CD, and incident response. • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. • Represent engineering interests to senior leadership, customers, and external partners. • Manage resource allocation and capacity planning across distributed team locations.
Required skills: • 7+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in engineering management. • Deep knowledge of software architecture, API design, and distributed scalable systems. • Proven ability to make trade‑offs between technical debt, short‑term velocity, and long‑term sustainability. • Strong leadership skills: mentoring, coaching, performance management, and team building. • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of producing strategic documentation and clear narratives. • Demonstrated success delivering results in ambiguous, high‑pressure environments. • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders. • Familiarity with domain‑driven design and cross‑boundary development is a plus.
Required education & certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). • No mandatory certifications; relevant credentials (e.g., PMP, AWS Solutions Architect) are beneficial.
